I'm new to the X-Five (picked one up yesterday), so I also have some questions in this area. Sorry to the OP for any derailment, but thanks for starting a thread I have much interest in also. Are any of these recommended guide rods captured? I kind of like that arrangement, so it would be my preference. It looks like the reason to change guide rods is to be able to run the 1911 style springs, correct? Download bpm studio.
They won't work on the stock X-Five guide rod? When looking at 1911 springs like on the Wilson Combat website, any that say 5' will work with the recommended guide rods?I put a Romeo1 on mine right away and took it to the range after a full tear down and cleaning/lube. It ejected my preferred light 115gr reload, but it was throwing the brass forward, down range (couldn't collect my brass for reloading!) and the slide would not lock back after the last shot. Handled my heavier loads fine, but would prefer to shoot the lighter ones. So that's why I'm curious about this, to get a softer spring setup. Are any of these recommended guide rods captured? Get a few different spring weights and see what you like the feel of best and will also give you 100% reliability. If your gun is throwing brass forward and wont lock back the recoil spring is too strong for the loads you are shooting, so a softer spring should do the trick. Keep in mind, in a striker fired gun, the recoil spring and the striker spring work against each other so you can only go down in weight so far before it can become a problem. They won't work on the stock X-Five guide rod?Yes for the first question. No for the second questionWhen looking at 1911 springs like on the Wilson Combat website, any that say 5' will work with the recommended guide rods?Yes. Most of the times the description say, “for government sized 1911.”I put a Romeo1 on mine right away and took it to the range after a full tear down and cleaning/lube.

Congrats on your new pistol.
I’m using springer precision’s tungsten guide rod and a 10# Wilson combat recoil spring for my 128-132 PF loads.
So the story of how I got this gun goes back to a really nice deal my buddy gave me on his Sphinx subcompact, he knew I had sold most of my stuff and was brightening my spirits by giving me a deal on one of his guns. I was at the range shooting it and deciding if I'd want to carry it one day and a buddy of mine was there and I let him shoot it and he flat fell in love.
He had a recently acquired Sig P320 X5 and we did some horse trading mostly involving me throwing in some reloads and I wound up with the Sig.The X5 has the straight trigger and while the trigger on these isn't spectacular it is functionally excellent, what that means is it's easy to find the wall, hold it, then apply just a bit more pressure when the sight lines up to make it go bang. Just dry fire comparing it to other guns however and it doesn't feel anywhere near as nice as the PPQ or the VP9, I'd rate it below the M&P 2.0 as well.It comes with 4 21 round mags, fiber optic front sights, and the plates necessary to mount an RMR (more on that later). I took it to the range without an RMR and was very happy with the results, the gun was very accurate and easy to shoot. Zero problems of any kind through a couple of hundred rounds. For Christmas I picked myself up the Sig Romeo 1 RMR for it and mounted it to the gun for another trip to the range.
A comment on mounting the RMR though, thanks Sig for making this a lot harder than it has to be. You've got to remove the back plate from the slide, the striker assembly while making sure little springs don't go flying, and the extractor before you can put the new plate on. Oh, and the plate only works for the Sig Romeo 1. It's not the end of the world difficult but sheesh, everyone else with an optics ready gun has a simple process except Sig, there is zero reason to remove the striker except poor engineering.Anyway, got it mounted and back to the range and it was very accurate and fun to shoot. The Sig RMR is nice, seems solid and the dot is very clear although I'd say it's not as nice as my 'go to' RMR, the Leopold DeltaPoint Pro. I had along my PPQ Q5 with the DeltaPoint for comparison and while I like the Sig I like the PPQ better. The trigger is significantly better, mounting an optic is simpler (2 screws then take off the plate, no striker to worry about) the PPQ seems to shoot softer, and the combination of the better trigger and smaller red dot on the Leopold equals better groups.
A plus for the Sig though is it comes with 4 21 round mags, with the Walther I had to buy 2 more mags then add pricey extensions to get to 21 rounds.I've owned several optics ready guns now and the PPQ Q5 is the best, although I do like the Sig quite a bit and plan on shooting it a lot more. I haven't decided if I want to do anything to the trigger, I know there are kits out there from Apex and Grayguns has a kit for it (and given my experiences with Grayguns and my HKVP9 I trust them to do outstanding work). The Grayguns kit is $130 so I may try that one day, the stock X5 trigger could lose a couple of pounds of pull and be a bit cleaner. Here's a couple of pics with both the Sig and the Walther.

Many more than the P320.I have a P320 45 that has been perfect. It's great that they will be fixing the issue with my gun like all the other ones with the same issue when i have time to pay to send it to them. Just because there is an issue with extraction does not mean it is an issue in all guns, all lots etc. There obviously is an issue and it is not just my one gun.
It is quite a few from what I can tell. A firearm is a safety device and if it doesn't work it really is a serious problem. The P250s and earlier P320s don't appear to have this problem and neither does my 45 so I would assume it is a QC issue rather than a design issue. You can google 'Sig P320 failure to extract' all by yourself. Lots and lots of people having the same issues. Originally Posted By rbarry3715:I did not and no it isn't. It is your fanboy reflexes going defensive.
